Job description

The Business Analyst supports senior management by engaging in data analysis and translation of a diverse environment of information into reporting and actionable recommendations that will enable the company to achieve its strategic objectives. Using business acumen and analytical tools, you will design solutions that will improve business unit performance, provide analytical support and guidance, and determine the best approach for business and reporting needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Explore and examine data from multiple disparate sources in order to identify, report, and analyze core metrics directly impacting business objectives
  • Find and interpret rich data sources, manage large amounts of data despite hardware, software and bandwidth constraints, merge data sources together, ensure consistency of data-sets, create visualizations, and communicate of the data insights
  • Work in conjunction with the Development team to define solution for extract, transfer and load of data from different sources into DW.
  • Promote the importance of data integrity and ensure consistent presentation of information across the organization
  • Provide technical analysis to prepare specifications for data and reporting needs – assist with QA and testing of new data
  • Based on assigned department need, research and gather data for industry benchmarking and support business decision-making
  • Design and develop automated reports using Tableau
  • Requirements:
  • Exemplary analytical problem solving skills, and knowledge of business analytics tools. Hands on experience with data visualization tools and leading BI tools such as Tableau highly desired
  • Working knowledge of database architectures and structured query language (SQL)
  • Ability to work with company executives to understand the company’s business needs and strategy
  • Proficient at developing, gathering and writing functional and system design specs for web based, reporting and data solutions
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Experience developing budgeting and forecasting models
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent written/verbal communication skills
  • A driving curiosity to understand the core drivers and leverage points of the business and to research and analyze potential solutions
  • Ability to research and understand new technologies and methodologies for BI reporting
  • Experience:
  • 1-3 years of data analysis and business analysis or related experience
  • BS/BA in Business, Finance, Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, Statistics or other related field preferred
  • Working knowledge of the insurance Industry (Property/Casualty), terms, and processes a plus
