Job Description


The Legal Assistant is responsible for providing administrative support to multiple attorneys and facilitating the litigation process. This position has regular contact with Attorneys, Staff Counsel, Litigation Specialists, Insured Persons and Legal Community.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Maintain all case calendaring for the office. This includes, but is not limited to, scheduling hearings, responses, depositions, affidavits, and vacations.
  • Prepare legal documents, appearance and answers, requests for production, interrogatories, subpoenas, jury instructions and other miscellaneous correspondence as requested.
  • Contact clients to verify current whereabouts, accident details, attendance at court, and arbitration hearings.
  • Coordinate court reporters attendance for depositions and trials.
  • Administrative duties such as answering phones, filing, making copies, and faxing.
  • Maintain an accurate summary of assignments on a weekly/monthly basis for performance evaluation.

  • Some college coursework required; 4 year degree preferred.
  • Paralegal certification (preferred).
  • Minimum 2 years of previous administrative support experience in a legal environment.      


  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, technical journals/procedures, and financial reports and data. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, employees, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.      


  • Advanced mathematical skills as it relates to the position.


  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of financial, legal and technical information.
  • Ability to exercise detailed analysis.

  • Strong technical aptitude in regards to software applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite and legal calendaring software.
  • Ability to process high volumes of work, while meeting deadlines.
  • Knowledge of technical standards for legal and other business correspondence.
  • Knowledge of standard business, phone, and email etiquette.
